Introduction: The Women’s Surgery Ward provides specialized healthcare services for female patients requiring surgical interventions. The department is equipped to perform a variety of surgical procedures and is dedicated to promoting women’s health. It consists of 30 beds and is located on the first floor of the hospital’s western wing.

Department Structure:
The ward consists of:
- 8 three-bed rooms
- 2 two-bed rooms
- 2 private rooms
Each room is designed to provide comfort and convenience to patients and their companions.
Facilities in the Women’s Surgery Ward:
All rooms are equipped with:
- Television
- Refrigerator
- Bathroom (available in two-bed and private rooms)
- Central suction and central oxygen for each bed
- Serum stand attached to each bed
- Food table at the foot of each bed
- Patient-specific small cabinet and a large wall cabinet for belongings
- Companion accommodations:
- Convertible sofa in private rooms
- Reclining chair beside each bed in double rooms
Isolation Room: Room 375 is designated as the isolation room.
Visiting Hours: Daily from 15:00 to 16:00.
Patient Admission Process: Patients are admitted one day before surgery for necessary preoperative tests and consultations. After completing preparations, they are temporarily discharged and return on the morning of their scheduled surgery.
Post-Admission Nursing Procedures: Patient File Creation: A file is prepared for all admitted patients. Physician Coordination: After consulting the treating physician and recording the patient’s height and weight, necessary preoperative steps are taken.
Surgical Preparation: Surgical scheduling and coordination with the operating room. Medical preparations (e.g., blood reservation, routine/specialized tests, ECG, chest X-ray, IV insertion). Preoperative measures such as prophylactic injections and surgical site shaving if required.
Consent Forms: Obtained from both the patient and their companion.
Day of Surgery: The patient, wearing hospital gowns and fasting (NPO), is accompanied by a nurse and caregiver to the operating room.
Nursing Procedures for Patients Under Observation:
Patients under observation receive care based on the treating physician’s orders, including:
- Vital sign monitoring
- Fluid intake/output (IO) monitoring
- Fetal Heart Rate (FHR) and Non-Stress Test (NST) checks (if applicable)
- Necessary sonographies and medical consultations
